SCHOOL meals will now be enjoyed by the students of Naseyani Primary School in Ra after their new dining hall was opened last week.
The dining hall that cost $224,000, will provide the proper eating space for students who attend the school.
This was after their eating room was destroyed by Severe Tropical Cyclone Winston in February 2016, leaving students to eat in their classrooms.
Headteacher Selina Dakuwaqa said the students had been eating in their recently-rebuilt classroom.
“Our school was one of the worst to be hit during Tropical Cyclone Winston,” Mrs Dakuwaqa said.
“Since then, the school has been able to get back on its feet with the help of Government.”
Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, in opening the new dining hall, said thanks to Government’s innovative Small Grant Scheme, Government was able to deliver ahead of its completion schedule.
He said event was not all about celebrating the opening of a new hall but about the future of students.
