THIRTY-six teams are taking part in this year’s NewWorld Suva Netball Association Business House competition.
The round one games were played at the National Netball Centre on Thursday night.
Competition co-ordinator Tanya Vatubua said they were pleased with the interest of the business house teams this year.
She said there was a sharp increase in the number of teams participating.
“Last year we had 20 teams taking part but the number has gone up to 36 this year,” Vatubua said.
“That’s a big increase within the business house teams. The competition level has also gone up.”
Defending champions Central Teachers made a good start to its campaign winning the knockout meet last week.
Vatubua said they have divided the competition into four grades – chief executive, management, supervisory and cadet.
“We have teams like Central Teachers, BSP I and FNPF playing in the top grade which is chief executive,” she said.
“These teams have a number of Suva reps playing in both their women’s and men’s teams.”
The business house competition will run for six weeks followed by the quarter-finals.
