FIJI boxing’s wonder boy Siliveni Nawai continued with his fairytale run after his TKO (technical knockout) win over Ulaiasi Qalomai during the Best Boxing Promotions program on Saturday night. Known as the “Hands of Stone”, Nawai who is also preparing for his first title fight against New Zealander Beau O’Brien next month, said the win had boosted his confidence for the title fight.

Nawai dominated the fight unleashing some clean shots which caught Qalomai off guard.

His combination of punches in the third round made things tough for Qalomai and forced the fight to end in round four as Qalomai decided to retire after the fourth round.

“I am excited to secure another win and to maintain my unbeaten run after 11 fights,” said Nawai.

“I have been training hard in readiness for my title fight and I wanted to use this fight as a warm-up to my big fight next month.”

Nawai said keeping a clean sheet at home was a huge achievement for his career.

He said sheer hard work and sacrifice enabled him to do wonders in the ring.

“I have been training hard every day and I am delighted to be given a chance to contest for a title.”
