AN estimated cost of $25million is the funding needed for the Navakavu revitalisation strategy for 2018-2022.

Advisor to the Navakavu trustee development committee Jovilisi Suveinakama highlighted this and said this was one of the challenges they were facing.

“The other issue is about the funding of the plan, it’s about $25m, so the discussion has been actually if the yavusa (tribe) can do a fundraising, each member of the yavusa (tribe) to make a contribution to the implementation of the plan,” Mr Suveinakama said.

He said so far, only a few pledges had been received for this revitalisation plan.

“We have received not more than $4000. We have received a very few pledges but we are not going to be discouraged by it, we just feel that we have to work harder, that is the approach that we have taken,” he said.

The revitalisation plan was launched in Suva on June 6 by Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
