THE Fiji U16 team to the Australian Junior Rugby Championship has set its target to focus on their game plan rather than playing individually.

Coach Masi Saqanavere was happy with the players that he had selected and thanked the parents for their support towards their children’s welfare for the past one month.

“We had to work within the limited number of players that was given to us which was 26 and I am grateful that for the past one month the players have shown great improvement and we had selected more forwards then the backs,” he said.

“We had gone for the forwards especially players who can play utility position.

“We never judged them on their performance during the Dean’s competition but how they performed during training.

“We looked at their progress and how well they executed the game structures according to their positions.”

He also added that team bonding was very important.

“We focused on the game specifics for the past months and we have been generally touching on the game structures as we build on the boys’ basics, their course skills and units.

“During the camp we will be more focused on the team and their units.

“We will be training them to work as a team and then we will focus on their individual units.”

The team will fly out on Friday next week.
