Nasorowai ready to fly zone flag

SIGATOKA Methodist College student Penijamini Nasorowale is keen to do the Nadroga/Navosa Zone proud during the Coca-Cola Games at the ANZ Stadium in Suva next month.

Nasorowale, who represented Fiji during the 2017 Oceania Championship, took out the best male award during the Nadroga/Navosa Zone which ended at Lawaqa Park in Sigatoka on Thursday.

He set two individual records in the competition.

Nasorowale set a record in the senior boy’s long jump with a distance of 6.18m.

The previous record of 5.95m was set by Apete Ratu of Nadroga Arya College in 2015.

He also broke the senior boy’s triple jump record with a new distance of 12.85m.

The previous record was 12.58m was set by Vuniani of Sigatoka Andhra in 2015.

Nasorowale said it was through his fitness that he was able to set the two records.

“I have been training for the past two months,” he said.

“My parents have given me a lot of support.

“Now I’m looking forward to the Coca-Cola Games and I hope to achieve the gold medals there.”

Meanwhile Meresalala Tuicakau of Nasikawa Vision College took out the best female award.

She won the senior girls 100m event stopping the clock in 13.06s.

Tuicakau said she had been training for the past month.

“I hope to better my performance at the Fiji Finals next month,” she added.
