Update: 1:08PM ANOTHER carpentry training offered by the government yesterday this time with twenty-seven youths certified.

The group, with only one female trainee received Certificate III General Carpentry at the end of a 4-month programme.

According to a government statement, the trainees from Vanua Levu and the maritime zone were trained in floor framing, wall framing, roof framing and Occupational Health and Safety Hazards (OHS) training. 

Youth minister Laisenia Tuitubou was said government would continue non formal education programmes.

“The ministry continues to empower youths through our non-formal education system,” Minister Tuitubou said.

“Our trainees usually do practical work in communities as part of their 70 per cent practical component of training. Our current and ex- trainees have been instrumental in rebuilding in the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Winston.”
