Naduva ready for national sevens team challenge

MAN of the moment Alasio Naduva is not concerned with the titanic battle posed by some of the world-class players in his quest to secure a spot in the last leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series tournaments likewise for the Rugby Sevens World Cup. The Fiji Airways Fiji 7s match-winner will compete against Toulon-based Semi Radradra and Josua Tuisova, Rio Olympics Fiji 7s gold medallist Samisoni Viriviri and latest star winger Eroni ‘The Sledgehammer’ Sau for the wing position.

Other players who have been used on the wing this year are Sevuloni Mocenacagi, Waisea Nacuqu and Amemoni Nasilasila.

When asked of the above battle, he said “We may have our plans but God has the last say and I will work hard to cement my spot to be in the world cup team. It is going to be a tough challenge but I am ready.”

Naduva who scored the wining try at the Singapore 7s said he wanted to lift his performance at London.

“The Singapore 7s is history and my aim is to lift my game.”

He said apart from his personal goal he would do his best to help the side do well at the last two 7s tournaments.

The Naweni native of Cakaudrove said his aim was to use the London 7s as a platform for the world cup.

“I thank the Lord for allowing me to represent my country and I will do my best to help Fiji win the title. The last two tournaments bring a new opportunity to continue from where I have left off in my previous games and I am looking forward to the new challenge.”

Naduva said the side had the material to produce the goods at the London and Paris 7s tournaments.
