Nadi duo rule golf battle

NADI Airport Golf Club president Munesh Prasad teamed up with Fiji Airways’ Ritesh Chandra to win the Mahen Gopal and Anita Persaud of Canada-sponsored two-men 18 holes stroke Ambrose event at the golf links in Lautoka last Saturday.
The two posted a record 12 under par for a nett score of 55 to win the title.
Likewise, Roneel Prakash and Amitesh Chandra won the professional category on a gross score of 12 under par 57. Veterans James Krishna and Abdul Jalal recorded 61 for second place finish with New Zealand-based Anuresh Chandra and Raymond Singh settling for third spot on 62.
Pritam Singh and Bharat Ram rounded off proceedings on 63 to account for fourth prize.
Nearest to pin prize on second hole went to Anuresh Chandra and the ninth hole to Prem Chand. Anuresh Chandra hit the longest drive on the third hole.
Club official Suren Pillay commended the sponsors for helping develop the sport.
“Such sponsorship attracted golfers from other clubs and has boosted the level of competition .There were 34 starters and the green and fairways stood the test for the golfers,” he said.
