THE EASTER traffic operation in the North went smoothly and was without any incident.
Police spokesperson Inspector Jokatama Qio described the weekend operation as a success.
“The operation was between police and the Land Transport Authority in which teams set up checkpoints and inspected vehicles,” he said.
“The teams also were on the lookout for cases of drink-driving but there were no such reports.
“So we thank the motorists and members of the public for abiding by the road rules and respecting other users.”
Insp Qio said police did not receive any other major reports of crime for the division.
“Our teams were out providing patrol in towns and residential areas , ensuring that everyone was safe and enjoyed the Easter weekend,” he said.
At the checkpoints, LTA and police officers also had friendly chats with motorists, reminding them about the importance of their safety on the road.
Drivers’ licences were also checked as part of the operation.
