strengthening the partnership between government and NGOs to help create violence-free communities for women and girls is a priority area for Fiji’s new Minister for Women Rosy Akbar.
Ms Akbar said the ministry would work with NGOs that had expertise in this area
“We will move strongly to make a difference in the lives of women and at the same time, promote family life and the welfare of our children,” Mrs Akbar said in an interview.
She said one of the ministry’s major focuses would be continuing the income-generating projects for women.
This is being done through the building of resource centres around the country.
