Maya pleads for assistance

A 59-YEAR-OLD mother is hoping assistance from good Samaritans will help her family return to normalcy after losing a majority of their belongings during the recent widespread flooding in the west.

Maya Wati, a sweet seller by profession, said it was difficult for her and her husband to return to normal after the adverse weather.

“We lost a lot of our things during the flood,” she said.

“At the moment, we have left our two children at my sister’s place because we still haven’t been able to return to our normal life before the flood.

“We are pleading for assistance that will help our family.”

She said they had lived in the Lovu Seaside community in Lautoka for over 11 years but they had never witnessed flooding as severe as the one they had gone through.

“We are thankful that we have received some assistance in the form of food rations and that has helped us a lot.”
