FIJI Airways Drua vice-captain Eroni Mawi has two roles to achieve today while playing against the Melbourne Rising at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori.

A win for his team in the start of the 2018 National Rugby Championship and to make his family happy.

He will assist skipper Mosese Voka in the search for a win against the Aussies who are battle-hardened with Super Rugby experience.

“Motivation is about being determined, and for me it’s playing for my country and family,” Mawi said.

“You always have to be motivated, not only during the game, but at training sessions.”

The Tovu, Totoya, Lau native showed his leadership skills by barking out orders to his teammates during training sessions at Bidesi Ground on Thursday to help skipper Voka and coach Senirusi Seruvakula.

Mawi, 22, plays an important part in the team as a loosehead prop against a team better equipped yet remains undaunted.

“It will be a hard game.

“It will be tough on home ground because Fijians always want a win, but the players are willing to go for victory.”
