TAKING action against the increased littering, Labasa market vendors took time off their busy schedule this morning to pick up rubbish along the Labasa Riverbank.

Vendors association president Salanieta Bola said the clean up was conducted after vendors noticed increased littering in the area especially by the river bank.

“A lot of rubbish collected was from the river bank and it’s sad because we are trying to protect our rivers and oceans from rubbish,” she said

“We also noticed that fish guts and a lot of rubbish were in the vicinity of the fish market which usually caused stench in the area.”
