Update: 5:29PM THE ISLAND and rural teams are today causing upsets at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s now held at the ANZ stadium and Burkhurst Park in Suva.

Pacific Warriors Nairai beat Nawaka in their third pool match with 19-12, while Pacific Island Yasawa scored 40 points over Flagstaff Rugby Club.

Marist Rugby Club president Lawrence Tikarama said the beauty of Fiji Bitter Marist 7s is that you never know what to expect.

“There may be many surprises, especially with the island teams and teams from rural areas,” he said.

“Its all about grassroots, its all about development. That’s where strength lies. It lies with the people at the grassroot level.”
