PETERO Manoa, who will represent Fiji with Ana Cowley in the inaugural Vodafone Lost Island Ultra Marathon next month in Fiji, received a timely boost yesterday.
Beyond Limits Known (BLK) sportwear manufacturer and distributor will help the Fijian duo in the international event.
BLK’s Liga Gukisuva said the sponsorship would see the pair outfitted with training and competition gears and uniforms which included imported BLK joggers and the latest top of the range locally produced uniforms. “We decided to be part of the event because BLK has Fijian ownership. It is important that we support our local talents and events. Since this is the first time for the event to be held in Fiji, we want to take our athletes beyond limits known,” Gukisuva said.
Race co-ordinator Matthew Capper said the race would go through some of the toughest terrains in Viti Levu.
“The race will be in four stages starting with the first from Togovere in the Ra coast and goes 47 kilometres across Yaqara then behind the Nakauvadra Range then ends at Nabalasere. Stage two, which is about 35 kilometres will go through Toganiivi, Navai, Yalayala between Monasavu Rd and Nadarivatu Rd junction. The third stage, which is about 35 kilometres, will go towards Nadrau then to Sigatoka Valley up to Nubutautau and the fourth stage will go around the Sigatoka River and ends at the Sigatoka sand dunes,” Capper said.
The race will start on Tuesday, April 3.
