Man to appear in court for allegedly stoning Police vehicle

A 24-YEAR-old man will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today charged with allegedly stoning a police vehicle last Sunday morning.
The accused was allegedly driving a vehicle and when directed to stop along Stinson Parade he refused whereby officers pursued the vehicle up to Mead Road in Nabua.
The accused is alleged to have thrown stones at the police vehicle causing damage to the patrol car.
He has been charged with one count of damaging property, one count of driving a motor vehicle without being the holder of a valid driving license, and one of and failure to obey traffic direction.
Acting Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has again reiterated that Police would not condone attacks on officers during the execution of their duties.
“Any reports received will result in the full deployment of resources and capabilities to bring those responsible to justice as officers are putting their lives on the line every day to maintain law and order and keep everyone safe,” he said.
