Man fronts court over Nasinu fatal accident; Case transferred to high court

A 30-YEAR-OLD man charged with one count of manslaughter, two counts of dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm and one count of breach of zero alcohol limit has been remanded in custody.

It is alleged that Viliame Raibulu Ratoto drove a motor vehicle in a reckless manner causing the death of a 26-year-old woman on September 16, 2018, in Nasinu.

Police prosecutor Special Constable Gajendra Prasad objected to bail and made an application to have the matter transferred to the High Court in Suva.

He also informed the court that Mr Ratoto was suspended from driving for six months in July, 2018, by Nasinu Magistrate Sufia Hamza.

Magistrate Charles Ratakele has transferred the matter to the High Court in Suva.

The matter has been adjourned to September 28.
