A MAJORITY of rape cases in Fiji are committed by perpetrators who are known to the survivors.

This, according to Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre (FWCC) coordinator, Shamima Ali.

She said FWCC had recorded a total of five sexual assault cases from January to June this year.

“Anyone can be raped,” she said.

“The youngest in Fiji was four months old and the oldest was a 90-year-old.”

She added the act committed by the perpetrator also came out of utter disrespect for women.
