LTA told to serve

STAFF members of the Land Transport Authority have been reminded to do what is right — providing services to the people of Fiji.
The message was delivered to staff members of the Central/Eastern Division by the Transport Minister, Lieutenant-Colonel Pio Tikoduadua, during his visit to Valelevu yesterday.
“First, you have to do what is right and do it only in as far as the law allows you to do your work,” Lt-Col Tikoduadua said.
“I will do what I have to do to allow you to do your work well. It is important that we trust each other and that we have an understanding.
“The most important stakeholders for the LTA and the ministry itself are the people of Fiji — our biggest responsibility is to provide service to them.”
He reminded more than 50 staff members the people were their bosses and they worked for them.
He said people were the recipients and LTA was the service provider.
“I want to remind you that service is important. If what we are doing is not serving the people, then you and I are in the wrong job. I’ll be fair on you and you will be fair on me. I will look after you and you will look after the people of Fiji.”
He also told the staff members to expect some changes in the near future for the betterment of services provided by the authority.
