FIJI table tennis player Xuan Carolyn Li’s dream of representing Fiji at the Commonwealth Games has finally came true.

Li, 24, is a week away from living her dream when she competes in the quadruple event at Gold Coast in Australia.

The Suva-based China born player represented Fiji in the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.

She won a bronze medal in the team’s event.

“We have been having tough training sessions every day to prepare for the Commonwealth Games,” Li said.

“Our preparations started from the 2017 Pacific Mini Games. Apart from game practise sessions, we also undergo physical training such as running to get fit, and endurance training.”

Li, a former Indian College (now Jai Narayan College) in Suva, is an accountant.

She said the games would be tough because Fiji would play against some of the top table tennis nations in the Commonwealth.

“It is always my dream to play in the Commonwealth Games,” she said.

“Now the dream has come true. I am living the dream now. I have slowly moved into the administrative part for Fiji Table Tennis, but this year being the Commonwealth Games, I want to come out as the best Fiji table tennis player.”

The Commonwealth Games will be held from April 4-15.
