COMMUNICATION hindrance in the district of Lekutu in Bua on Vanua Levu means that boarding students at the primary and secondary schools there cannot contact their parents and or family members while in school.

Lekutu Secondary School principal Ravinesh Kumar told the district council meeting yesterday that even school staff could not contact their loved ones in Viti Levu and areas outside the district.

He said the district was located in a black spot, which meant there were no mobile coverage in the area.

“We are hoping for the day when mobile communication will be opened to us so we can access the big world outside Lekutu, ” Mr Kumar said.

As part of its resolutions, the council will take these concerns raised to the provincial council meeting.

The Lekutu district council meeting was held at Votua Village in Lekutu.
