LEADERSHIP development is a key element to sound judgement and a good command.
Fiji’s Minister for Defence and National Security Ratu Inoke Kubuabola stressed this point to the 203 individuals during their Basic Recruit Course passing out parade at the Nasinu Force Training Group today.
Ratu Inoke said leadership was a core element of maintaining a strong and robust institution.
“Leadership is influence – nothing more – nothing less. “Leadership is about influencing others for a worthwhile cause,” Ratu Inoke said.
“It does not rely on titles or positions. It is dependent on a vision in mobilising others to join in its fulfillment,” he said.
With the 36 female officers passing out, Ratu Inoke said this was an indication of the Government’s commitment and efforts towards instilling gender equality within the RFMF.
Ratu Inoke said after today, 73 officers would undertake the Officer Cadet Training, and 45 would be absorbed into the Engineering Unit as part of the Trade Training School.
He said the remaining 85 officers would be posted to the Territorial Force Brigade where they would be expected to assist those in the Regular Force in carrying out any RFMF tasks both locally and abroad.
