A 6.4 MAGNITUDE earthquake was recorded this morning in Ono-i-Lau, but did not pose any immediate threat to the Fiji region.
According to the Seismology Unit of Fiji’s Mineral Resources Department, the earthquake was registered at 09:11, 604km Southwest from Ono-i-Lau, 682km South from Matanuku, Kadavu and 799km South-Southwest from Suva.
The seismic activity was considered a strong size earthquake with deep depth source location.
The offshore earthquake did not pose any tsunami threat.
Meanwhile another seismic activity also occurred this morning at 01:10 at Waiqori on the island of Oneata in the Lau group.
The Unit said that the moderate earthquake also did not pose any threat to the group.
