Lale gets world boxing titles

THE Boxing Commission of Fiji received a huge boost with the selection of the Usman Ali Lale as referee, judge and ring supervision for the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) and New Zealand Boxing Commissionsanctioned fights.The former boxing promoter says to be the fi rst Fijian selected for this recognised world boxing bodies is a humbling experience.

He said his 30 years of service to the sport had been rewarded and thanked his loved ones and the Fiji boxing fraternity for the support.

“I am honoured and blessed to become a certified official for the WBF and New Zealand Boxing,” said Lale.

“This is a huge achievement for me and I believe my 30 years of service to Fiji boxing has been rewarded.

“It is a privilege to be the first Fijian selected as ring supervisor, judge, referee and commissioner for the WBF and NZBC.

“The appointment shows that boxing in Fiji is heading in the right direction.”

Lale said he would make a good use of the opportunity and learn more about the sport.

He urged local boxing officials not to give up hope, but to remain committed to the cause of lifting the image of the sport to another level.

“This is a huge learning curve for me and an inspiration for other local officials.”

Lale is a former boxer, boxing promoter and current Boxing Commission of Fiji board member, BCF referee, judge, ring supervisor and boxing commissioner.
