THE Ministry of Employment, Industrial Relations, and Productivity has launched an Occupational Health and Safety Profile with its stakeholders.

While speaking in Lautoka today, Minister for Employment Jone Usamate said the profile was intended to improve the standards and practices in the workplace in relation to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

He said the ministry would also continue to pursue occupational health initiatives at both the national and enterprise levels by integrating health promotion activities in the workplace.

Mr Usamate highlighted the need for occupational health-related policies in workplaces across the country following the high number of workplace fatalities recorded in 2017.

He said in most of the death cases, occupational health was the main factor.
