THE Labasa Town Council was given the best float award for today’s float procession at the Vodafone Festival of the Friendly North.

The Fiji Sugar Corporation float came in second place.

The council’s float portrayed messages of recycling and reusing materials and garbage that could still become useful.

Hundreds of people lined up the main street of Labasa town to witness the float procession.

Special Administrator Vijay Chand said the carnival has benefitted the community of Vanua Levu.

He thanked the organising committee for doing a superb job in holding successful festivals every year.
