LABASA and Sheraton took out top honours in the men and women’s divisions respectively during the Picket Cup competition at the Nadi Bowling Club during the weekend. National rep Jona Koroitamana teamed up perfectly with Rick Eyre to top the points table with 19 points after the round robin games.
The side ousted defending champion Sheraton which finished on second spot with 16 points. Rajinesh Prasad and David Aicheson featured for Sheraton. Rewa with the services of Eseroma Bai and Sai Baba started the tournament strongly winning all their games on Day One, but failed to keep up the momentum in the final day and finished on third spot with 15 points.
Tamavua claimed the fourth spot with 14 points. In the women’s division, Sheraton’s Doreen O’Connor and Loreta Kotoisuva combined to win the event after play-offs with Tamavua.
Tamavua and Sheraton were tied on top of the points table after the round robin games, but Sheraton pulled through in the play-offs winning 3-2.
National rep Litia Tikoisuva and Loalini Tukai failed to find their form for Tamavua in the play-offs allowing Sheraton to win.
Tournament official Bobby Prasad said the competition showcased some of the country’s best bowlers and congratulated the two winners on their achievements.
