THE groundbreaking ceremony for a $90,000 multipurpose sporting facility in Natokowaqa, Lautoka on Monday also marks the kick-start of a number of sporting developments in the Sugar City.
This was the word from Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar on Wednesday.
“After this groundbreaking ceremony, we will identify an area in Waiyavi because there is a huge youth population there as well and we will do another multi-purpose court for them,” he said.
“In two months time we are going to do the groundbreaking for the Go Green Multipurpose Hall at Nadovu Park which will have a seating capacity for 2000 spectators.
“We are going to upgrade the wooden pavilion at Churchill Park and we also have plans to build another stadium where the current embankment area sits.
“I hope you can see for yourself what is happening in Lautoka.
“My message to the people of Lautoka is to please work with your council and see what is the best for Lautoka.”
