PEOPLE should expect to be issued with offer letters for the new Nepani subdivision by the end of this November.
Fiji’s Minister for Local Government and Housing Parveen Kumar confirmed this in an interview with this newspaper.
Last year, the Housing of Authority of Fiji had called for Expressions of Interest for the purchase of residential lots at several upcoming housing subdivisions which includes Nepani.
According to Mr Kumar, works at the Nepani subdivision was almost completed and there were just a few works that needed to be “patched up”.
Mr Kumar added that there had been no real stock in terms of lots as far as the Housing Authority was concerned.
“The reason is that the previous government never had the will to do and carry out subdivisions and if they had the stock we wouldn’t have faced the problem we are facing in regards to the stock, so what we are doing now is building up on the stock,” said Mr Kumar.
The Housing Authority was allocated $7.38m in the Government’s 2017-2018 National Budget, to subside the land development cost of its new subdivisions in Nepani (Suva) and Davuilevu in Nausori.
This development is earmarked to deliver 476 affordable lots by the end of this year.
