FIJIAN President Jioji Konrote has urged Team Fiji athletes to make the nation proud and compete with pride in the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia.
Konrote visited the Team Fiji athletes at the Games Village at South Port in Broadbeach North in Gold Coast.
His presence boosted the morale of the young athletes ahead of the actual competition which starts tomorrow in the different locations.
“We have seen the activities of Team Fiji in the Commonwealth Games as the team was also part of the church service on Sunday,” he said.
“I have brought the prayers and the love of our beloved nation.
“Some of the athletes I have seen were there during the itatau a couple of weeks ago and I am glad to know that you have settled well at the Games Village.”
Konrote also shared the news of the death of four Fijians following the heavy rain in the country which Cyclone Josie brought over the past four days.
“Sadly, 48 hours, Fiji was stuck with Cyclone Josie with the heavy wind and rain and four people have been confirmed dead and one is still missing,” Konrote told the Fijian athletes.
“I am hoping we will have some good weather.”
