KOICA volunteers to assist ministries

THE Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) Fiji office received six volunteers who arrived in the country yesterday.

A press statement issued by KOICA Fiji stated that the volunteers would  be hosted under the umbrella of the respective ministries which were  the Ministry of Health and Medical Services and the Ministry of Education, Heritage and Arts.

“Two volunteers will be based in Nausori Health Centre and Sigatoka hospital, whilst four other volunteers will be based in Sigatoka/Nadroga and Suva primary schools. The specialists under the health sector will serve in nursing and radiology and for the education sector, the volunteers are specialized teachers for elementary education, mathematics, computer and music,” the statement said.

KOICA was established on  April 1, 1991 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as a government implementing organization for Official Development Assistance (ODA) of the Republic of Korea.

After the re-establishment of the regional office in Fiji in 2016, KOICA has continued support for Fiji as well as other Pacific Island Countries through various projects, capacity building programs and volunteer programs.
