NEW Zealand professional Kieran Muir will return to defend Cardo’s Steakhouse-sponsored Fiji Open Championship which will be played at the Natadola Bay Championship Course from June 8-10.
Muir won the Fiji Open last year earning a spot at the prestigious Fiji International.
The former New Zealand Golf Order of Merit winner Muir will add prestige to the tournament which offers the winner and the best local finisher a place in the Fiji International to he held at Natadola in August.
Fiji Professional Golfers Association secretary Amitesh Chandra said they expected a host of overseas professionals, who would be targeting direct entry to the Fiji International, which was among the biggest tournaments in the region — attracting four-time major winner and former world number one Ernie Els.
“There is another big tournament coming up which is the Fiji Premium to be played at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club course from May 11-12,” Chandra said.
“The professionals will play for a total prize purse of $2500.”
