VANCOUVER – The Kenya 7s team has hinted mistreatments from rival nations on the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
The Kenya team has fired shots at rival 7s nations in a Tweet after Monday’s Canada 7s in Vancouver.
Without naming sides, the tweet hinted at mistreatment from other teams on the series in past years, including the alleged refusal to share dressing rooms with the African nation.
A tweet from the team after losing to the Fiji Airways Fiji 7s team that was reported in international media, read “A few years back, certain teams would refuse to train or share changing rooms with #Kenya7s. They felt that they were above us. Fiji is the one team that has always treated us as family. Win or lose they are our brothers and this picture is testament of that.”
After the final, the Kenyan side praised the Fiji Sevens team calling them “brothers” who “treated them as family.”
Fiji beat Kenya 31-12 in the final.Kenya had won only once before in four finals appearances, beating Fiji in Singapore last year.
