Katonibau further remanded

NATIONAL rugby 7s rep Isake Katonibau has been further remanded in custody until tomorrow to allow prosecution to file its response to his bail application.

Mr Katonibau today appeared in Court represented by Suva lawyer Joseph Daurewa along with his two sureties.

Mr Katonibau allegedly assaulted a police officer. He is charged with one count of serious assault.

Mr Daurewa said Mr Katonibau, who is the sole breadwinner in his family, is vying for a spot in the national rugby 7s team for the Rugby World Cup and has a permanent job that needed him.

Magistrate Liyanage Waickramasekara asked prosecution to file their response tomorrow.
