FIJIAN soldiers serving in the Middle East are safe, says Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) chief of staff Brigadier General Jone Kalouniwai.
He confirmed this yesterday after international news reported this week that the United States President Donald Trump said he was going to take action against Syria after reports of a suspected poison gas attack on a rebel enclave that killed dozens of people.
Brig-Gen Kalouniwai said the safety of the troops was under the United Nations (UN) and such situations would be thoroughly assessed by the UN security specialists.
“I can assure you that they are safe because of the security framework that they are currently covered with under the UN security system.”
