TWO qualities that helps Kalisito Vunidilo Rokotogalevu counter every challenge he faces in life is to respect and be humble.
The 21-year-old who hails from Namosi with maternal links to Naitasiri is one of the 12 King contestants vying for this year’s Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus festival King title.
The accounts officer of Fiji Bandag Limited said he had made up his mind that he was going to enter the pageant as a contestant at the age of 21.
“I was able to enter for this year’s pageant after being motivated by two of my friends who were former contestants for the Vodafone Fiji Hibiscus Kings category,” Kalisito said.
Being sponsored by CBS Pacific Solutions, Kalisito said the preparations towards the festival week had been a challenging one.
“I have learnt how to manage my time and work under pressure trying to balance things like school, training, work and Hibiscus commitments,” he said.
Kalisito will be advocating on environment sustainability, which is better stewardship for a better environment in the future.
“The reason is that we need to become and promote better stewards for the environment in order to have a sustainable environment for our future generation.”
The former Marist Brothers High School student said the support from both his maternal and paternal side, especially his friends, workmates and school mates had been very overwhelming.
He said the scariest thing about being a Hibiscus contestant was to be on stage performing in front of hundreds of people, and the most exciting thing about it was gertting to meet very important people and learn more new things with new experiences.
“It takes confidence and courage to be a Hibiscus contestant, but it comes with responsibilities.”
