A MAN is in a serious condition at the Vunisea hospital in Kadavu after the truck he was driving fell into the sea.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed this saying the driver and three other passengers had parked the vehicle at the end of the cement wharf at Vunisea, and it veered off the wharf when the driver tried to reverse.

She said the accident allegedly occurred because of the loose gravel causing the vehicle to fall into the sea.

Ms Naisoro said the driver and the passengers managed to swim to safety.

“The vehicle is now fully submerged under water while the driver is now admitted at Vunisea Hospital in serious condition while the other passengers were treated and sent home,” she said.

Ms Naisoro said the incident occurred at 5pm yesterday.
