LOSING someone is a painful experience, but turning that loss into art takes extreme courage, talent and emotions.
Tuimudremudre Volavola and Jr Buresova, also known as ‘Jay and Tui’, who are the only duet finalist at the 2018 Kaila! Star Search competition are looking to surprise the crowd at the final show this Saturday, with an original song dedicated to Tui’s mum, Tavenisa Radrodro, who died from cervical cancer last year.
Tui said they began rehearsals on Sunday and were looking forward to releasing their original song on the final night.
“Preparations for the final have been pretty good — we’re really busy with school and preparations and we’ve been caught up with that,” he said.
“It is a tribute song that we wrote for her, we sang it at her funeral and we have now produced an instrumental so we thought to release it at the final.”
He said the song “If Heaven Was A Walk Away” was also for those who have unfortunately died from cancer.
The final will be held on Saturday at the Valelevu grounds in Nasinu.
