Issues affecting Fiji: Poll
24 March, 2018, 12:00 am
FOUR political parties who are looking forward to this year’s polls have come out with mixed views over issues that they believe are important to Fijians.
In the lead-up to the 2018 General Election, the six registered political parties were asked the question: What are some of the important issues affecting the nation?
The two biggest political parties – the FijiFirst party and the Social Democratic Liberal Party – did not respond to the question when this edition went to press yesterday. Questions were sent to the parties via electronic mail (email) last Wednesday.
Responding to the question, Unity Fiji party leader Savenaca Narube said the unity of all races in the country was important.
National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad believes genuine democracy is a major issue for the country.
Fiji Labour Party assistant general secretary Aman Ravindra-Singh believes the eticketing system was a major issue affecting the people.
Fiji United Freedom Party (FUFP) leader Jagath Karunaratne believes majority of the issues faced in Fiji today were on economic development and health.
