IONIQ wins 2017 award

Driving the most fuel efficient vehicle in America doesn’t mean you have to compromise on its appearance as the 2017 Hyundai IONIQ received the 2017 Green Good Design Award from the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and the European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. The Green Good Design Award celebrate important examples of sustainable designs and provide awareness on what companies are designing and producing to make the most positive impact on the environment.

“Hyundai Motor is committed to progressing the future of eco-friendly driving and the IONIQ is just the beginning,” said Chris Chapman, chief designer, Hyundai Design Center. “The future-focused character of the IONIQ along with its innovative use of recycled and ecologically-sensitive materials has made IONIQ the most fuel-efficient vehicle and a leader in the environmentally-friendly vehicle space.”

For 2017, 100 designs were awarded Green Good Design Awards from 23 nations. IONIQ was recognised among the world’s most advanced products, designs and projects representing leading companies that have an emphasis on sustainability. The thoughtful and innovative work by Hyundai Motor’s design teams helped IONIQ become recognised as one of the best ecological and sustainable designs in transportation for 2017.

IONIQ Hybrid wins French Car of the Year Award

The Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid won the Car of the Year Award in the Compact Car category at the 2017 Trophées Argus. The jury of 23 journalists of the French car magazine L’Argus praised the IONIQ’s attractive design and spaciousness as well as the high quality of its driving and safety assistance systems.

“This is the second Car of the Year Award in a row for the Hyundai IONIQ — first Norway and now France. This reinforces our conviction that the IONIQ is the best-value eco-car in Europe. The line-up including the IONIQ Hybrid offers the best warranty and is fully equipped for a very competitive price and with no compromises as regards design, driving pleasure or connectivity.

Thomas A. Schmid chief operating officer at Hyundai Motor Europe

The Hyundai IONIQ is the first vehicle to offer three electrified powertrains within one body type: hybrid, all-electric, and plug-in hybrid. The line-up provides eco-conscious mobility without compromise in great design, fun-to-drive, smart connectivity or advanced safety.
