Injury forces duo out of Gold Coast

THE Vodafone Fiji 7s coach Ben Ryan has made two changes to his team for the Gold Coast 7s this weekend.

Nippy Emosi Mulevoro and Amenoni Nasilasila have been dropped from the 12-member team because of injuries.

They have been replaced by Jerry Tuwai and Vatemo Ravouvou.

Ryan said he hoped the duo would be fit to contest their places in the team for the Dubai 7s.

“It is with regret that we have had to make two changes to the Gold Coast team as a result of injuries,” Ryan said in a statement.

“Emosi Mulevoro has not fully recovered from an ankle injury and will be replaced by Jerry Tuwai while Amenoni Nasilasila suffered a concussion and is still suffering from the after-effects so he is being replaced by Vatemo Ravouvou.

“Both Mulevoro and Nasilasila have been in outstanding form in training and games and it’s a big blow for the team and the players that this has happened.

“I am confident that they will be back in time to be considered for Dubai and both will be offered full-time contracts with the Vodafone Fiji 7s team after the tournament such is the regard they are currently held in.”

Tuwai has joined the team while Ravouvou is scheduled to depart for Gold Coast today.

The Osea Kolinisau-skippered Fiji will play Scotland in its opening pool match at 2.02pm followed by Portugal at 5.23pm and Australia in its final pool match at 9.01pm on Saturday.
