INDIGENOUS iTaukei people are the biggest litterers because anywhere they go, they are known to leave their rubbish behind.
These were the strong sentiments echoed by the Marama na Roko Tui Dreketi Ro Teimumu Kepa while officiating at the Rewa Provincial Council meeting in Burebasaga village in Rewa yesterday.
Ro Temumu said looking after the environment began with every individual.
“It begins with us, we don’t need anyone to tell us what has already been emphasised,” Ro Teimumu said.
“We place a lot of importance on the various COPs, especially COP23, not being aware that with COP23 telling us that we have to look after our environment and protect it and that has been done by our elders.”
The Rewa Provincial Council meeting ends today.
