ABOUT 500 travel industry specialists engaged with Fijian holiday specialists during Tourism Fiji’s India Roadshow this month.
In a statement released yesterday, Tourism Fiji said the four-city promotion to Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore was a resounding success. Fijian stakeholders who participated in the event lauded the Tourism Fiji initiative.
“The roadshow was excellent,” said Sofitel Fiji Resort and Spa sales and marketing director Michael Bell.
“Good quality agents and great turnouts in terms of numbers at each of the destinations we visited throughout India.
“We welcomed the opportunity to update our partners on the wide range of activities that Fiji has to offer.
“We look forward to continue to develop business to Fiji, given the easier connectivity we have now via Singapore.”
Marriott International Resorts also participated in the Tourism Fiji India Roadshow and took advantage of the opportunity to gain a direct audience with their key accounts in the Indian market and shared knowledge on their five properties in Fiji.
“Being the largest hotel chain in Fiji, it was fitting to partner with Tourism Fiji and share the ‘Bula Spirit’ in a growing new market and actively push for double digit growth by 2019,” said Javed Shameem, Cluster Director of Sales for Marriott International Resorts in Fiji.
Tourism Fiji’s brand ambassador — Bollywood starlet Ileana D’Cruz launched the roadshow with a video of her trip to Fiji.
She will continue promoting Fiji as a holiday destination throughout this year, this was expected to amplify Fiji’s presence in the Indian market.
