THE after-effects of a stroke could not stop Niko Tikoinakida and his wife from travelling to cast their ballots at Waidalice Primary School in Tailevu.
Though he struggled for mobility, the 67-year-old Navuca native maintained clarity of thought to communicate he was at the voting station to do his bit for the nation.
Speaking in the iTaukei language, Mr Tikoinakida said he made the mile and a half walk from his home in Navuca Village to come and vote.
He said he accompanied his wife to vote adding they were happy to have cast their vote.
Mr Tikoinakida said he saw a lot of difference in the new voting system adding he found it easier to use the previous ones.
