Human trafficking case referred to high court

A WOMAN who allegedly facilitated the trafficking of 17 Fiji citizens was today instructed to file a proper bail application in the High Court.

Seta Sanjana Ram appeared before Magistrate Waleen George today.

She is charged with 17 counts of trafficking in person, 16 counts of obtaining property by deception and two counts of money laundering.

The magistrate also issued an arrest warrant for the accused’s sister who now resides in Australia.

Ms Ram’s sister had also taken part in the alleged act.

Ms Ram has been further remanded in custody and will reappear in court on September 3.
