ENGLAND has ended Fiji’s dream run for a fifth title in a row with a 19-17 victory in the first quarterfinal of the HSBC Paris 7s.

Fiji will now play Ireland in the fifth place semi final at 11.19pm Fiji time.

England will play Canada in the Cup semi final.

To keep its hopes alive for the World Sevens Series title, Fiji needs to win fifth place. It will gain 13 points and its total points would be 180 points.

It would then mean that South Africa who currently has 160 points, would need to win the Cup final and earn 22 points to beat Fiji to be world champion for the second year in a row.
