HSBC Paris 7s: Fiji beats Samoa

FIJI Airways national men’s sevens rugby team has beaten Samoa 35-12 in its first pool match of the HSBC Paris 7s.
Fiji drew first blood in the game scoring two unanswered tries from lanky forwards Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Kalioni Nasoko.

Both tries were converted by Vatemo Ravouvou.

Samoa replied with tries from Malu Falamiko and Tofatu Solia. Falamiko’s try was not converted, Fiji led 14-12 at half time.

Semi Kunatani started in the second half and scored a try within minutes of the restart. The jazz man, Jasa

Veremalua scored a double to extend Fiji’s lead and win the game.

Fiji plays Kenya at 11.46pm. Kenya earlier lost 5-24 to New Zealand. Fiji will play New Zealand at 5.14am Fiji time.

Fiji needs at least a bronze medal to win the World Sevens Series.
