DILKUSHA Week gives the children a new sense of hope and teaches them the importance of family says Superintendent of the Home Deaconess Salaseini Kacivakawalu.

The home is hosting a weeklong celebration to commemorate 114 years since its establishment with the theme “Jesus is the Best Gift! Give your family the Best”.

Deaconess Salaseini said a total of 42 children were living in the home.

“We have four children in high school, 20 in primary school and the rest are home schooling,” Deaconess Salaseini said.

She said they all had family groups within the home.

“We have about seven groups of families and the children do everything within their families. They have meetings, cell groups and carry out duties within their own families,” Deaconess Salaseini said.

Students from the Davuilevu Theological College took time out yesterday to visit the children in the home.

Reverend Dr Jolame Lasawa said they were blessed to be part of this year’s celebrations and handed over a token of appreciation to the Home.

“We are here, DTC, a community of Faith and we have come here today to celebrate with you because we are also part of the Dilkusha Community,” Rev Dr Lasawa said.
