Update: 12:01PM HEALTH communication has no agenda.
This was the message conveyed by Assistant Health Minister Alex O’Connor while opening the ministry’s Strategic Communications for Improved Health Outcomes training workshop for the Fijian media at Lami’s Novotel Hotel Convention Centre.
In his address, Mr O’Connor said the media played an important role in passing timely health messages to members of the public.
“Health communications is not purely about providing information about health issues,” he said.
“It plays a far greater role in ensuring that communities are equipped with knowledge and information about health issues to take action to improve their health.”
The one-day workshop is facilitated by the World Health Organization.
